Orange Cameroun welcomes its new CEO.
After three years at the head of Orange Cameroun, Mr. Philippe LUXCEY leaves Cameroon to take on new challenges. The new Chief Executive Officer is Mr. Jean-Michel LATUTE.
Since September 2005, Mr. Philippe LUXCEY undertook an extension and densification policy that made Orange number 1 in coverage and network quality in Cameroon.
From a simple GSM network available only in the cities of Douala and Yaoundé in 1999, Orange Cameroun today covers 85% of the population in more than 420 localities across the ten provinces.
Mr. LUXCEY also contributed to the introduction of new technologies and applications in the domain of multimedia. This development has made Orange Cameroun a reference within the France Telecom Group and in Africa.
Under his management, Orange Cameroun reached the symbolic number of 600 permanent employees of whom 99% are Cameroonians.
Jean-Michel LATUTE officially takes over Orange Cameroun on September 1st, 2008.
He joined the France Telecom Group in 1988 and has so far worked in the areas of Information Systems and Management.
Abroad, he was Information Systems Manager for Jordan Telecom in Amman, Jordan. Since 2005, he was CEO of Tele Yemen in Sana’a, subsidiary of Yemen Telecom Group before his nomination as CEO of Orange Cameroun.
Mr. Jean-Michel LATUTE is a civil engineer with a specialty in telecommunications, graduate of INSA (Toulouse), ENST (Paris) and IAE (Toulouse). He is 54, married and father of 4.Jean-Michel LATUTE takes over from Philippe LUXCEY.
